Circulation between wells

Circulation between wells is a solution that is deployed whenever limited water discharge possibilities are present or when multiple wells are being developed simultaneously. Normally this is only used for thermal storage wells on locations with salty or brackish water.

Infiltration during circulation between wells

During circulation between wells, the discharge water is infiltrated from one well into the other well. A part of the discharge water – filtered or unfiltered – can then be discharged into the surface water or sewage system.

To avoid blockages, the circulating water is first settled with a decanter and then cleaned with filters before it is infiltrated into the other well.

Development of the well

Circulation between wells requires additional labour and materials and hampers the optimal development of the well. Therefore, this solution is only applied when there is no other possible solution.
